
Bees Rally for Come from Behind Win over Patriots

Bridgewater, NJ - The New Britain Bees (1-1, 36-35) defeated the Somerset Patriots (1-1, 43-29) 7-6 before 6,177 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.
Ramon Flores, who finished the game 4-for-5 with two runs scored, a double, two triples, a home run and two RBI was called out in a controversial play at the plate on what could have been a game-tying in the park homer in the bottom of the ninth inning that ended the game.
The Patriots took an early 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Flores (6) to lead off the bottom of the first inning.
Michael Ohlman then led off the second inning with a home run (4) to deep center field. Michael Crouse added a run on an RBI single before Flores struck with an RBI double that put Somerset up 4-0.
Darren Ford got the Bees on the board with a solo home run (3) in the top of the third inning to cut the lead to 4-1.
Somerset got one back in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI fielder's choice by Craig Massey for a 5-1 advantage.
The Bees jumped out in front with a six-run top of the seventh inning, highlighted by a two-run home run by Jason Rogers (7) and a three-run home run by Logan Moore (5). Mike Carp also added an RBI base hit in the inning.
The Patriots answered with a run in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Justin Pacchioli to make it a one-run game.
David Roseboom (1-0) took the win with 0.2 innings pitched. Luis Cruz (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in an inning pitched. Jim Fuller earned his tenth save of the season with an inning pitched.
The 2019 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home with a 5:05 pm game against the New Britain Bees on Sunday, July 14th. The game features an appearance by WWE Hall of Famer "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan presented by Empire Supplies.
