Jamestown Jammers News Release

Jamestown, NY- The got things going early on Wednesday night against Batavia. Jin-De Jhang drove in his ninth run of the season in the bottom of the first inning. Elvis Escobar showcased his speed on the base paths scoring from second base to make it 1-0.

Yhonathan Barrios gave Jamestown a 3-0 lead with one swing of the bat in the bottom of the second inning. With Harold Ramirez on base, Barrios jumped on a Max Garner pitch and drove it over the left field fence.

Jackson Lodge made his first start of the season for the Jammers and would toss in five innings of work and give his team a chance to come out on top heading into the sixth inning. Batavia would touch Lodge for two long balls on the night as Avery Romero and Felix Castillo picked up solo homeruns in the second and fifth innings.

Batavia would mount their rally in the seventh inning against Jammers relief pitcher Justin Topa. Topa would record the first two out of the inning with relative ease, but then a walk to JT Riddle would turn the tide. Yefri Perez would deliver the biggest hit of the night for the Muckdogs with two men on base as a fly ball to center-field would elude Escobar and roll to the wall. Perez pulled into to third base with a triple and a 4-3 lead on the play.

The Jammers (5-4) would have a chance to at least send the game into extra innings in the bottom of the ninth inning as they would put two runners on base against Batavia reliever Casey McCarthy. McCarthy would get pinch hitter Jesus Vasquez to pop up to the second basemen to secure the win and the save/

The two teams will meet tomorrow night in Batavia for the back end of a home and home. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with Isaac Sanchez penciled in for his third start of the season. The Jammers will look to get back to their winning ways after dropping the last two games. Friday night the Jammers will kick off a six game home-stand against the Auburn Doubledays.
