Baseball Returns to the Beach this Weekend

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - "Baseball at the Beach" returns to BB&T Coastal Field Friday, February 27 with games beginning at 9 a.m. The weekend of baseball begins with four games on Friday at the ‘Home of the Pelicans' followed by three contests on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. The weekend concludes with a single game starting at noon on Sunday.

The tournament features high school and Division I college teams from all over the region playing at three different sites. BB&T Coastal Field will host five of the eight participating high schools. They are Rock Hill High School (Rock Hill, SC), Eastside High School (Taylors, SC), St. James High School (Murrells Inlet, SC), Fort Mill High School (Fort Mill, SC) and Nations Ford High School (Ft. Mills, SC). Local NCAA Division I power Coastal Carolina and national power Tennessee headline the lineup of collegiate teams participating in the invitational tournament. The other institutions involved in the weekend tournament are West Virginia, Florida International and Brown.

This year marks the 10th year for this annual tradition in Myrtle Beach. Day passes are available for $10 with tournament passes available for $25 by calling the Pelicans Box Office at (843) 918-6000. Pelicans' season tickets, group packages, and flex books are available now by calling a Pelicans ticket representative at (843) 918-6000 or by visiting the Pelicans main office located at BB&T Coastal Field. Single-game tickets will go on sale Saturday, February 28. Those can be purchased by phone, in person or online at www.myrtlebeachpelicans.com. The Pelicans open the season at home on April 9 at 7:05 against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. As a precursor to Opening Day the Pelicans will hold Fan Fest on March 7 with details being announced soon.
