Boise Hawks News Release

Boise Hawks made a special delivery on Monday, January 29th to the Saint Alphonsus Family Maternity Center. The Hawks presented a check for $2,000 to Saint Alphonsus as part of the "Baseball for Babies" fundraiser. Proceeds from the Boise Hawks' "Baseball for Babies" jersey raffle benefit the Bedrest Bootcamp Program at the Family Maternity Center. The program is designed for expectant mothers with high-risk pregnancies who require days, weeks, or even months of bedrest. The Bedrest Bootcamp program helps reduce the physical and psychosocial effects of ante partum hospital bed rest.

This is the fourth year for "Baseball for Babies"- a raffle that provides baseball fans a chance to support programs and services that benefit the Family Maternity Center, patients and their families. Raffle tickets were sold at each of the Friday night home games, with a winner drawn at each game. Winners received a special practice jersey with the Chicago Cubs logo and the Boise Hawk player name and number on the back.

This year also marks the opening of the new Saint Alphonsus Family Maternity Center. The new state-of-the-art facility includes 17 new patient rooms, 12 post-partum recovery rooms, and 5 ante partum rooms in the expanded Family Maternity Center. The new NICU can now care for up to 32 babies at one time. Both facilities were designed with the focus on privacy and comfort of the patient and their families while providing the best medical care.

The Boise Hawks baseball team is celebrating their 2006 season. The club won its 11th division title and fell just short of a 7th NWL Championship in their 20th Anniversary Season. Last fall the Hawks unveiled a new logo and look that will be featured on the field for the first time this summer.
