Barzilla to Houston

Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
(CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas) - Late word today out of Houston that staff ace Roy Oswalt has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a mid back sprain, retroactive to May 30th. Taking Oswalt's spot on the Astros' 25-man roster is former Hooks' southpaw Philip Barzilla, whose Round Rock contract was purchased by Houston. To make room for Barzilla on the club's 40-man roster, the Astros moved pitcher Brandon Backe from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Barzilla becomes the fourth Hooks' player to make it to Houston and the third player this season. Charlton Jimerson broke the ice last season, and this year, Fernando Nieve and Chris Sampson preceded Barzilla. The former Rice pitcher was 7-7 with a 3.03 ERA last year for the Hooks. This season with Round Rock, Barzilla was 2-3 with a 4.13 ERA in nine starts for the Express. On May 23rd, Barzilla tossed a complete-game one-hit shutout against Las Vegas.
