WEEKEND RECAP: The Colts posted their second consecutive two-win weekend and have gained victories in four of their past six games overall....With 58 points on the season, the Colts place third in the Central Division and fifth overall in the Eastern Conference....In terms of the conference standings, the Colts are one point ahead of the Ottawa 67's, and two ahead of the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors....Barrie has posted a 15-14-1-1 record on home ice, and 11-14-2-2 record on the road...The club has eight games remaining on its regular season schedule, and will play three of them this week
February 23 vs. MISSISSAUGA: The Barrie Colts improved their record Saturday night with a big win against the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors at the Barrie Molson Centre....Barrie jumped out to an early 2-0 lead just 7:30 in to the first frame, Alex Hutchings (27) extended his goal-scoring streak to five games with help from Tomas Marcinko, and Cory McGillis....Moments later Jaroslav Kruzik made a great break-out pass to McGillis who later found Marcinko (17) in front of the net to make it 2-0....The Majors then found themselves in penalty trouble, at one time the visitor's box boasted 4 Majors, and the Colts took advantage as Stefan Della Rovere (11) scored from Shawn Frank and Jaroslav Kruzik....The Majors were able to find the back of the net late in the period as Jesse Messier (20) scored with just 12 seconds left....Play entered the third period at the same score of 3-1 before Shawn Frank (8) got a huge monkey off his back, allready with an assist on the night, Frank scored his first goal in 31 games. A drought that dated back to November 24th when the Colts hosted Mississauga....Michael Hutchinson made 36 saves to pick up his 10th win of the season

February 22 @ SUDBURY: The Barrie Colts didn't gain any ground in the Eastern Conference standings but didn't lose any either as they dropped a 2-1 decision Friday night while visiting the Sudbury Wolves.....The Colts got on the board first when they were supplied with an Alex Hutchings goal, his 26th of the season at the 3:20 mark of the second period.....The Wolves waited until the 18:46 mark of the second period to get on the board, as Patrik Lusnak started them off with his 15th of the season, while on the powerplay...Dean Howard put the home side on the board again as he opened up the third period with what was the eventual game-winner at the 1:42 mark of the period

February 21 vs. OWEN SOUND: The Barrie Colts established a 2-1 first period lead that they extended to 4-1 through two periods on their way to a 5-2 victory over the Owen Sound Attack....Ryan Berard (7), Cory McGillis (17), Stefan Della Rovere (10), Alex Hutchings (25) and Daniel Michalsky (15) each scored goals for the Colts, and Michael Hutchinson made 32 saves to establish his 9th victory of the season.....The Colts used the powerplay to their advantage in the victory, as four of their five goals were scored with the man-advantage....Brennan Wright (3) and Marcus Carroll (16) each scored goals for the visiting Attack

WHAT'S ON TAP: The Colts have three games scheduled for this week, as the regular season winds down and teams jockey for playoff positioning in the Eastern Conference standings....Seven of Barrie's remaining eight regular season games are against teams from their own conference, as their lone matchup against the West goes this Wednesday when they pay a visit to Bayshore Arena (7:00 p.m.) to face the Owen Sound Attack (20-36-2-3)....The Colts are coming off last Thursday's 5-2 win against Owen Sound, and are leading the regular season series with a 4-1 record through their previous five meetings.....The Attack will miss the post-season this year, as they currently place ninth overall in the Western Conference with 45 points, 19 away from the final playoff spot....The Colts Friday will meet the Kingston Frontenacs for the first time in their new arena, the K-Rock Centre for a 7:30 p.m. matchup......The Colts have posted a 2-1 record against the Fronts this season....Kingston is currently hanging on to their playoff lives as they are 13 points back of the Peterborough Petes with eleven games left for the 8th and final playoff position in the conference....The Fronts officially moved into the arena and made it their new home on Friday against the Belleville Bulls....The Colts cap their weekend off Saturday night when they host the Brampton Battalion (36-20-1-3) at the Barrie Molson Centre (7:30 p.m.)....This will be the fifth of a total of six meetings between these two teams, with the final one scheduled for March 14 in Brampton....The Colts lead the season series with a 3-1 record against the Battalion, as Brampton currently lead the Central Division and occupy second in the Eastern Conference with 76 points on the season

ROSTER UPDATE: The Colts did not experience any additional injuries to their lineup over the weekend....Currently, defenseman Kyle van de Bospoort is the only injured player and is currently listed as week-to-week and missed the club's previous seven games with a lower body injury
PRACTICE SCHEDULE: The Colts practice this week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the Molson Centre (3:15 - 4:45) in preparation for games Wednesday in Owen Sound, Friday in Kingston and Saturday at home to Brampton
SPECIAL TEAMS OUTLOOK: Barrie's powerplay is currently 17th overall in the OHL with an efficiency rate of 16.7% with 59 goals on 354 man-advantage opportunities....On the other side, the penalty-kill ranks eighth overall at 82.9% having killed off 281 of the 339 shorthanded situations they have faced
GOALS FOR AND AGAINST: The Colts have scored 168 goals and have allowed 194, placing them in 19th and 10th respectively throughout the OHL in these categories
FINDING HIS OFFENSIVE TOUCH: Currently in his second year in the OHL after the Colts selected him in first round during the 2006 OHL draft, Della Rovere plays a lot bigger than he is and has been a physical presence in the league....This physical play has created some room for the native of Maple, ON, as the points are starting to come....Della Rovere recorded four points (2g-2a) over the weekend to bring his season point total to 31 through 60 games (11g-20a)....He also lead the Colts in penalty minutes at 142....Della Rovere has picked up his offense in the past few weeks, and is currently on an eight game stretch where he has recorded 10 points (3g-7a) dated back to February 8
