Barracudas Rank Number Six in Top 20 Hockey Poll

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Barracudas are proud to announce that they've been ranked sixth best hockey team in the first weekly In The Crease/Just Hockey "AA" Top 20 of the 2003-04 season.

The "AA" Top 20 ranks the top 20 teams among the 70 teams that comprise the "AA" level of minor league hockey. Each "AA" Top 20 is determined through contributions from a panel of coaches, players, general managers, media directors, and beat writers from around the world of "AA" minor league hockey.

The poll states, "Ron Duguay has brought a championship and NHL attitude to the club. (And an NHL prospect in Brandon Snee through his Rangers' contacts hasn't hurt either!) The team is good enough to cut Brent Scott."

The leagues included in the weekly poll are the ECHL, UHL, CHL, WHA2, and SEHL. The "AA" Top 20 is presented by the top two leading sources for information on minor league hockey - Just Hockey and In The Crease.

"I'm pleased with being a team that's taken seriously. Brett and I have set out on a goal to put players in an environment where they can improve as hockey players," Head Coach Ron Duguay said. "I've always thought of this team as a "AA" team. I've recruited it as a "AA" team. The players are playing that way. The coaches are coaching that way and we're getting the results that I've been looking for early. And that's encouraging," Duguay added.

The Barracudas (2-0) face the Miami Manatees (1-0) this Saturday night 7:05 at the Miami Arena. Catch all the play-by-play action live with Woody Carlson on IRN.fm beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45.

The Barracudas return home for their Home Opener Weekend Celebration Friday, November 28th vs. Miami Manatees at 7:05pm and Saturday, November 29th vs. Macon Trax at 12:35pm. Tickets are on sale now by calling (904) 367-1-ICE. Season tickets, group, and corporate packages are available.
