HOUSTON --- Alexandre Giroux scored twice, Shawn Belle collected three helpers and the Oklahoma City Barons scored five times in the third period en route to an 8-2 win over the Houston Aeros Sunday at Toyota Center.

The Barons scored three times on the power play, added a shorthanded goal, and killed off nine Houston power plays.

Giroux opened the scoring with his first of the season at 3:20 of the opening period. He made it 2-0 with a 5-on-3 power play tally, the first allowed by the Aeros this season, at 3:55 of the second. OKC's Colin McDonald bagged his second of the year at 14:16 of the second to give the Barons a 3-0 lead.

The Aeros had five power play chances in the second period alone including 1:21 of 5-on-3 time after Shawn Belle and Ryan O'Marra took overlapping penalties. The Barons killed off the two-man advantage, but Taylor Chorney's tripping penalty at the 9:00 minute put the Aeros back on the power play. Just after that penalty expired, Houston went right back on the man-advantage when Belle was whistled for closing his hand on the puck.

Houston's Peter Kalus finally broke through late in the second with his third of the season at the 16:07 mark. Robbie Earl followed that up 1:55 into the third, converting on a breakaway to bring Houston within a goal. Earl went to the net hard, snapped a shot on goalie Martin Gerber, and then watched the rebound carom off his right leg and back into Gerber, who couldn't maintain control.

The Barons answered back with five goals to seal their first road win as a franchise.

The Aeros begin another 3-in-3 set Friday at home against the Peoria Rivermen at 7:35 p.m. For ticket information, visit AEROS.COM or call 713-974-PUCK (7825).
