Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Friday night's contest between the Barons and Chattanooga at AT&T Field involved a see-saw battle between the two clubs in which the Barons endured the Lookouts, 5-3, in a rain delayed match-up.

After a rain delay of almost an hour and a half to begin the game, both teams came out of the gate strong. The Barons nailed three singles to produce their run, while the Lookouts took advantage of Justin Cassell's wildness. The Birmingham starter walked Luis Bolivar and Shaun Cumberland to begin the game and then subsequently hit Michael Griffin to load the bases. Daniel Dorn followed by grounding into a run-producing double-play.

Birmingham broke the tie in the fifth on a Thomas Callaro two-RBI double. The Lookouts, however, would mitigate the Barons' efforts by scoring a run in the bottom portion of the fifth on a Shaun Cumberland single.

Down by one run, the Lookouts scored a run in the seventh on a Daniel Dorn single to right field.

With the two teams deadlocked at three, the Barons took the lead for good in eighth inning on an RBI double off of the bat of Cole Armstrong. They would add an insurance run in the ninth when Miguel Negron slugged a double before being brought home on a Thomas Collaro single.

Derek Rodriquez (2-0) picked-up the win for the Barons after throwing two innings and striking out four and yielding one run.

Derrik Lutz (0-1) was credited with the loss in one inning of relief in which he gave-up one run.

The Lookouts will continue wrap-up their five-game homestand against the Barons, tomorrow at 7:15. Fireworks and The Zooperstars will be the featured promotions of the night. Tickets can be purchased at the Lookouts' box office, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling the ticket office at (423) 267-4849.
