
Barons on Four-Game Slide with 7-2 Loss to Smokies

The Barons dropped their fourth straight game with a 7-2 loss to the Smokies on Thursday night.
Tennessee scored the first five runs of the game. The first one came in the first inning. Bryce Ball singled to center field to bring in Matt Mervis. After that, Mervis slapped a two-run single in the second inning. The Smokies made it 4-0 when Alexander Canario drilled his 11th homer of the season.
The Canario long ball was hit on reliever Sammy Peralta. Barons starter Jason Bilous only lasted two innings and walked five batters.
Peralta allowed another round-tripper in the fifth inning when Bryce Windham took him deep to lead off the frame.
The Barons got on the board with a D.J. Burt RBI double, his tenth of the season, to drive in JJ Muno.
Tennessee added insurance in the top of the ninth inning. Canario doubled to bring in Bryce Ball. Canario scored on a Cole Roederer singled to make it 7-1.
Birmingham fans witnessed their first White Sox rehab assignment of the season. Two-time All-Star catcher Yasmani Grandal went 1-3 with an RBI single to make it 7-2 in the ninth inning.
Garrett Davila (3-1, 4.97) gets the start for the Barons tomorrow. Ryan Jensen (0-2, 5.20) will go for the Smokies. First pitch is set for 7:05 CT.
