They meet 30 times, with 18 games at Trustmark Park and 12 games at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The M-Braves split a doubleheader with the Blue Wahoos on Thursday.

- In game one, RHP Freddy Tarnok tossed six shutout innings against six innings of one-run ball from RHP Eury Perez. Justin Dean hit his first homer of the season to give a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Pensacola scored a run in the seventh and two runs in extra innings to win 3-1.

- In game two, Yariel Gonzalez's pinch-hit walk-off single won capped off a three-run seventh to win it 3-2 for the M-Braves. RHP Zach McCambley went six no-hit innings before being pulled after a leadoff walk in the seventh with Pensacola leading 2-0. The M-Braves pounced on the opportunity, getting RBI from Andrew Moritz and Logan Brown before calling on Gonzalez as a pinch hitter with a tie game and two outs.

THE COMEBACK KIDS RETURN: The M-Braves came from behind in the final inning or later for the fifth time this season on Thursday, July 8 vs Pensacola. The M-Braves had just two comeback wins in the final inning or later last season.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE WAHOOS: The M-Braves took five of six from May 24-29 at Blue Wahoos Stadium. The offense put up 55 runs, smashing nine homers and 17 doubles, slugging .486 in the series. The M-Braves won the final four games, outscoring Pensacola 48-18 in those games. Atlanta selected the contract of Michael Harris II on May 28 while the team was in Pensacola.

TRENDING TARNOK TO AAA: RHP Freddy Tarnok earned a promotion to Triple-A Gwinnett with his recent starts. In his last four starts, he has a 1.71 ERA (4 R/21 IP) with 31 strikeouts. Tarnok matched a career-high with 12 strikeouts on Thursday, June 30 at Biloxi.

- In a corresponding move, Atlanta promoted RHP Andrew Hoffman from High-A Rome. Hoffman is 7-2 with a 2.36 ERA in 15 starts for Rome.

MOVING ON UP: In the new prospect rankings, several M-Braves were boosted up the list. RHP Freddy Tarnok moved up one spot to No. 7, LHP Jared Shuster went up a spot to No. 8, RHP Darius Vines went up one spot to No. 12, RHP Indigo Diaz jumped a spot to No. 13, RHP Alan Rangel jumped two spots to No. 20, OF Jesse Franklin V went up two spots to No. 9 and INF Luke Waddell moved up a spot to No. 25. The M-Braves have nine players on Atlanta's Top 30 Prospect List.

THE SLUGBAUER MAKING MISSISSIPPI HISTORY: 1B Drew Lugbauer set a club record with seven RBI on Saturday, July 2 at Biloxi, including his team-leading 16th home run. Lubgauer has hit a club record 34 career M-Braves home runs over two seasons. He hit 18 home runs in 2021. He homered twice on May 27 at Pensacola where he matched the previous club record with six RBI.

- Lugbauer hit a walk-off single on Friday, June 3 vs MTG, the M-Brave's first walk-off since Wendell Rijo's single on 7/9/21. He is in the league's top 10 in...home runs (16, 2nd), XBH (34, 3rd), walks (46, 4th), doubles (18, T-4th), and total bases (128, T-5th).

DANGEROUS DEAN: OF Justin Dean tied an M-Braves record by scoring five runs on July 2 at Biloxi. Since his return from the injured list on June 4, Dean is batting .299 with a homer, six extra-base hits, 10 RBI along with 16 walks, 21 runs, and 11 stolen bases in 29 games.

VINES SHINES AGAIN: Darius Vines has a 1.50 ERA over his last three starts (3 ER/18 IP), 16 strikeouts, and five walks, including matching career highs with 7.0 shutout innings on June 25 at MTG, and July 1 at BLX. He leads the Southern League with 89 strikeouts while ranking among the league leaders in innings pitched (76.1, 2nd) and starts (15, T-2nd).

- With his seven shutout innings at Biloxi on July 1, Vines was the first M-Brave to earn Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 28-July 3.

GIVE ME MO MORITZ: OF Andrew Moritz lost his 16-game on-base streak on Thursday, July 8, batting .404 with seven multi-hit games and 11 RBI over the streak that started on June 16. Moritz has already logged an 11-game, and 10-game hitting streak this season.

RELIEVERS TO THE RESCUE: The relief core for the M-Braves is 2nd in the Southern League and ranks 4th in Double-A with a 3.86 ERA this season.

SHUSTER TO THE FUTURE: Starter Jared Shuster has a 3.13 ERA through 15 starts, which ranks 5th in the Southern League. The 2020 Atlanta first-rounder ranks among the league leaders in OBA, (.209, 3rd), WHIP (1.04, 3rd), innings pitched (77.2, 1st), and strikeouts (86, 3rd).

- Shuster received an invite to the MLB Futures Game at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, July 16 before the MLB All-Star break, featuring baseball's top prospects from around the league.

ALEXANDER THE GREAT: INF CJ Alexander hit his career-best 14th home run on Thursday, June 30, ranking T-4th in the league. He has two multi-homer games, May 13, at Chattanooga, and May 27 at Pensacola, his third and fourth since 2019. From May 27-June 1, Alexander homered five times in five games. He has homered in back-to-back games three times.

- Alexander is 2nd in the Southern League and ranks T-4th in Double-A baseball with 15 homers since May 1.
