Barons Announce a Flurry of Roster Moves

The Birmingham Barons and Chicago White Sox have announced a flurry of roster moves beginning with the addition of RHP Parker Frazier from Class AAA Charlotte and the promotion of OF Jason Coats from Class A Winston-Salem. C Jeremy Dowdy has been transferred from Birmingham to Class A Kannapolis. In addition C Martin Medina has been activated from the disabled list and OF Grant Buckner was placed on the disabled list retroactive to August 7. Roster at 25.

Frazier, 25, returns to Birmingham after going 0-1 with a 5.08 ERA (16 ER/28.1 IP) in 15 relief appearances with the Knights. He began the season in Birmingham going 2-3 with a 2.62 ERA (10 ER/34.1 IP) in 21 appearances before being promoted to Charlotte on June 16.

Coats, 24, will be making his Double-A debut after hitting .291 (125-for-429) with 15 home runs, 35 doubles, 64 runs and 72 RBI for the Dash. He was drafted by the White Sox in the 29th round of the June 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Texas Christian University.

Medina, 24, was placed on the disabled list on July 26 after hitting .440 (11-for-25) in nine games with the Barons following a promotion from Winston-Salem on June 18.
