Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Cincinnati Reds) vs. Mobile BayBears (Arizona Diamondbacks)
Three to Watch on the Mobile BayBears:
#34 Archie Bradley, RHP
Archie Bradley is the top prospect in the Diamondbacks' system and the top pitching prospect in all of baseball. Bradley began his season in Triple-A Reno, but was sidelined in late April due to an elbow injury. The righty went 2-1 in July and posted a 4.20 ERA. The Wahoos roughed up Bradley back on July 25th; he lasted 2.2 innings and allowed seven runs on five hits, including a grand slam from RHP Michael Lorenzen.
#43 Aaron Blair, RHP
Aaron Blair is the fifth best prospect in the Diamondbacks' organization and has put together a spectacular 2014 season. Blair's 150 strikeouts are second in all of Minor League baseball. In his first Double-A start, he earned the win and notched nine strikeouts against the Blue Wahoos back on July 21st. Blair played at Marshall and became their highest draft pick ever in 2013 (1st round). He's a big-bodied innings eater who pitches off his fastball, which has nice sinking action at 95 mph.
#7 Jimmie Sherfy, RHP
Jimmie Sherfy has struggled out of the bullpen this season for the BayBears, but is the Diamondbacks' 15th best prospect according to Baseball America. Sherfy was the closer for Oregon back in college and was selected in the 10th round of the 2013 draft after his junior season. The right-hander is only 5-10, but his funky delivery allows his fastball to sit around 95-96 mph.
Bubba Watson Returns: Bubba Watson will make an appearance at Tuesday's game to kick off the team's five-game homestand. Watson will sign autographs during the 3rd inning. Fans are limited to one autograph as time permits.
