Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES - Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach and Director of Football Operations John Gregory announced late Tuesday evening that the team has reached agreement with OL Michael Dansby, LB Micah King DB Kahlil Carter. This brings the total number of players currently under contract for Iowa to 22.

Dansby has been a rock at Offensive Tackle and Tight End for the Barnstormers for the past two seasons. The 6'4" 312 lb lineman has started every single game for Iowa since the beginning of the 2008 season and was part of a unit that finished the 2009 regular season with 10 straight games without allowing a sack. Dansby has three years experience playing Arena Football, joining the league shortly after finishing a four-year standout career at Jackson State University.

Micah King (5-11, 238) was a key component of the revamped Barnstormers defense last season. He joined Iowa during training camp as a free agent and finished the season with 27.5 tackles, 1 sack and 4 forced fumbles. King also rushed for 10 yards, including 1 touchdown on the season and was a solid contributor on special teams.

Carter (6-1, 190) is a seven year arena football veteran who has spent time with Milwaukee, Albany, Nashville and Kansas City. He also played for the af2's Arkansas Twisters, where he still holds the team's single season interception record with 14 picks in 2003. Carter also has spent time playing for the Scottish Claymores (NFL Europe) and attended training camp with the NFL's Buffalo Bills (2005).

The free-agency signing period for Arena Football One is underway. Expect more announcements from Coach Gregory and the Barnstormers in the coming days. Don't forget that 2010 Iowa Barnstormers season tickets remain on sale for as low as $96.00 per seat! Don't miss a minute of the action this season.
