Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES - Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach and Director of Football Operations John Gregory has announced that the team has reached agreement with Quarterback Brian Lee Lauduski, WR/DB Tommy Ellingworth, and LB Michael Newkirk for the 2010 season. Lauduski and Ellingworth return to the Barnstormers for a second season, while Newkirk joins the club as a rookie for 2010.

Lauduski (6-4, 210) spent the entire 2009 campaign on Injured Reserve with a shoulder injury. The Carlsbad, California native played college football at Southern Oregon. His best season was in 2007, when he threw for over 2,000 yards and 17 touchdowns in 9 games played.

Ellingworth, (5-10, 185) re-joins the Barnstormers for a second season in 2010. After sitting out the first 10 games of 2009, injuries forced Ellingworth into the lineup as an emergency Defensive Back, where he excelled. In five games, he recorded 22 tackles along with 1 interception. The Augustana alumni finished his college career with 211 receptions for 2,398 yards. His 4.37 time in the 40 yard dash was the second fastest time at his pro-day in 2008.

The 2010 season will be Michael Newkirk's first with the Barnstormers. The Ladysmith, WI native joins the club after a stellar career at the University of Wisconsin. Newkirk (6-2, 270) finished his collegiate career with 152 tackles, including 29 for a loss and 10 sacks. He participated in the 2008 Champs Sports Bowl and was named to the 2nd team All Big Ten team that same season.

"All three of these players will provide our club with tremendous depth," said Gregory. "I believe that they will continue to develop nicely and will be contributors to our team in 2010".
