Iowa Barnstormers News Release
DES MOINES - Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach and Director of Football Operations John Gregory announced today that the Arena Football League team has agreed to terms with free agent Kicker Piotr Czech. He was one of nearly 100 players who attended the Barnstormers Free Agent Camp in December.
Czech (6-5, 210) was born in Poland before moving to the United States as a youngster. He has twice been in NFL training camps, in 2008 with the Baltimore Ravens and in 2009 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also has professional experience kicking with the New York Sentinels of the UFL (2009).
Prior to that, Czech was a four-year letterman at Wagner University (2004-07). While at Wagner, he appeared in 44 career games, scoring 235 points (109 PAT's and 42 FG's) while also punting 252 times for a 37.8 yard average. During his senior season, he connected on 16 of 19 field goal attempts and compiled a career high 75 points, earning him All-NEC honors as a kicker. Czech attended Keyport High School in New Jersey where he was a standout in both football and track.
With the addition of Czech, the Barnstormers now have 31 players under contract for the 2011 season. Traning Camp is just weeks away! Don't forget that 2011 Iowa Barnstormers season tickets remain on sale for as low as $117.00 per seat. The home opener is scheduled for Friday, March 25th when the defending AFL champion Spokane Shock come to town.
