Iowa Barnstormers News Release

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Barnstormers lost another high scoring battle as they fell to the Orlando Predators on Saturday night 77-61 before 8,279 fans at Wellmark Field. With the loss, the Barnstormers fall to 3-8 on the season, while Orlando improves to an 8-3 record.

The Predators jumped out to a quick start and never looked back, leading 16-0 after one quarter of play. Veteran QB Nick Hill and WR Bobby Sippio were nearly flawless, connecting on 9 passes for 124 yards and 6 touchdowns. Hill finished the night completing 24 of 34 passes for 295 yards and 8 touchdowns. Iowa QB Brad Banks struggled through the first 3 quarters, throwing for just 142 yards and 4 interceptions. Orlando DB Travis Coleman led the way with 3 interceptions, while all-pro DB Rayshaun Kizer chipped in with 2 to increase his league lead to 12 interceptions on the season.

Trailing 36-20 at halftime, the Barnstormers attempted a second half comeback, but Orlando proved to be too strong as they continued to match Iowa score for score. One bright spot for the Barnstormers was the play of QB Bryan Lee-Lauduski who threw for 4 touchdown passes after relieving Banks with a little more than one quarter left to play. Another bright spot was a 35 yard touchdown run by Iowa FB Rodney Filer during the third quarter. With that run, Filer surpasses the 1,000 yard rushing mark, compiled over his 13 year career in the AFL.

The Barnstormers are back on the road next two weeks, as they head to Arizona to battle the Rattlers on Saturday June 11. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:05pm. Iowa returns home on Saturday, June 18 when they take on the Dallas Vigilantes at 7:05pm. The first 1,000 kids through the gate age 14 and under will receive a FREE Brad Banks youth replica jersey, courtesy of Coca Cola.
