Barnstormers Blank Skeeters, 9-0

SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Skeeters lost for the third night in a row in a 9-0 shutout to the Barnstormers in game three of six at Constellation Field in front of 6647 Sunday evening.

Scott Kazmir (0-4) made his first start against the Barnstormers Sunday evenining, his seventh of the season. After retiring the side in order in the first, Lancaster struck first for the third night in a row with one run in the second. Tommy Everidge singled into left for the first hit of the game and was moved to third when they loaded the bases with no outs of another single and a walk. Travis Denker brought him home with a sac-fly into right, 1-0.

After a scoreless third, Kazmir gave up a long ball to third baseman Travis Denker with two outs and nobody aboard in the fourth. With his first home run of the year, the Barnstormers now led 2-0.

Trouble came in the top of the fifth when Kazmir was taken out with the bases loaded and only one out in the inning for reliever Garrett Parcell. Berfore Kazmir left, Everidge knocked a single off the glove of Iggy Suarez to push the lead to 3-0. Parcell walked the first batter he faced to make the score 4-0 and then gave up an RBI single to Denker that scored two, 6-0, and an RBI triple to Kody Kirkland to make it 8-0 after five.

Horacio Ramirez (2-0) worked seven scoreless innings before he was taken from the game in the eighth allowing just four hits while striking out five to secure the win. Ryan McKeller was the most effective pitcher for the Skeeters giving up just one run in four innings of work while scattering three hits.

Lancaster added one run in the ninth for good measure to put the score up to 9-0 before the game ended in the bottom of the ninth thanks to Chin Lung Lo's two inning performance.
