Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Rylan Bannon's late three-run homer was the game-decider, as the Quakes secured a second straight win over the San Jose Giants by a 5-2 score on Saturday night.

After giving up a two-run lead in the middle innings, Rancho's bullpen sustained a 2-2 tie, allowing Bannon to deliver the big swing in the eighth.

Logan Landon and Jared Walker both recorded outs to begin the inning and Zach McKinstry extended the frame when hit by a pitch. Jeren Kendall singled before Bannon stepped to the plate to put runners on the corners against reliever Rodolfo Martinez. In a three-two count, Rancho's designated hitter towered the game-winning three-run homer over the left-field wall to put Rancho up 5-2.

Zach Pop entered out of the bullpen in the ninth and left runners on the corners to secure his team-leading fifth save of the year. Rodolfo (3-5) was charged with the loss after surrendering the homer, his fifth of the season.

Bannon's home run positioned Nolan Long (3-0) for the win after the right-hander pitched a perfect seventh and eighth innings while striking out four.

The Quakes also received an efficient start from Parker Curry who worked a season-long 4.2 innings, allowing a run on four hits and settling with a no-decision.

Cody Thomas helped give Curry an early lead by homering for a third consecutive game, a solo shot for his sixth of the season. Logan Landon was credited with swiping home in the second when a throw sailed into center field on a double steal, putting Rancho up 2-0.

The Giants evened the game with a run against Curry in the fifth and an equalizer against Logan Salow in the sixth. Saturday's game stayed locked at two apiece until the break through swing in the eighth.

With a chance to take three of four games over the Giants, Rancho will turn to Tony Gonsolin (3-2), scheduled to make his 15th start of the season on Sunday. The right-hander will be opposed by Logan Webb (1-2) of San Jose.

On Sunday at 2:05pm, the Quakes will turn into Los Temblores on the field and fans can join us for pre-game fun and festivities, including food, music, kids activities and player appearances.
