Bandits Snap Three Game Losing Streak With Walkoff Win

Frederick Parejo hit a walk off single to give the Bandits a 3-2 win in the tenth inning

The Quad Cities River Bandits took game one of the four game set with the Burlington Bees, 3-2 on Friday night in an extra inning contest at Modern Woodmen Park.

Eric Fornataro (2-2) started for the fifth time this season, pitching six scoreless fanning four and surrendering just two hits to the Bees. Fornataro didn't receive a decision, handing the ball to Christopher Corrigan (1-0) in the seventh. Corrigan allowed two runs-one earned in the game. Corrigan failed to get an out and Jesse Simpson (2-0) came into finish the game for the Bandits. Simpson went four innings without allowing a hit or a run. He walked three and punched out four in his winning effort. Brendan Lafferty (1-2) was charged with his second loss of the season, surrendering two runs on two hits in 2.2 innings on the mound.

Quad Cities scored three runs on seven hits in the match up. Frederick Parejo hit a walk off single in the bottom of the tenth to plate D'Marcus Ingram from second. Ingram reached on a fielder's choice and swiped second to secure his fourth stolen base of the season. Ingram was 1-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Jason Stidham was 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Devin Shepherd added a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4.

The Bandits take the field against the Bees for game two of the four game series on Saturday evening. Michael Blazek (2-0) is scheduled to take on fellow right-hander Tyler Sample (0-0) with first pitch set for 6 p.m. at Modern Woodmen Park. Drink specials return with $2 draft beers and sodas.
