Bandits Sign Veteran Fico to One-Year Extension
ROSEMONT - The Chicago Bandits have have signed veteran pitcher Rachele Fico to a one-year extension, team officials announced Thursday morning.
Fico shined in her first season with the Bandits and compiled a team-best seven wins over 41.2 innings of work in the circle. The right-hander ranked fourth among all NPF pitchers with a sparkling 0.51 ERA.
"Rachele's performance in the circle was an instrumental piece to our team's success last season," Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. "She brings veteran leadership to the table and we're looking forward to seeing more of the same in 2019."
Fico first agreed to terms with the Bandits on a one-year contract in March. The Oxford, Connecticut, product played five seasons in the NPF and collected 33 wins across 316.2 innings before she joined the Bandits. Fico made 17 appearances, including 10 starts, during the 2017 campaign and struck out 53 batters.
A former All-American at LSU, Fico made an immediate in Rosemont when she tossed the team's lone complete-game shutout of the 2018 season July 11 in a 3-0 win over the Beijing Shougang Eagles.
