ROSEMONT, Illinois - Aug. 1, 2012 - Chicago Bandits GM, Aaron M. Moore, announced the signing of free agent outfielder Rhea Taylor to the 2012 roster.

"Rhea is a player we've liked for a while now," said Moore. "She has the potential to be a game changer with her speed and ability to get on base.

"She has played recently with the US National Team, so she should be ready to go right away. Adding a player of her caliber down the stretch is something that could help turn the tide a little for us."

A former player for the Mizzou Tigers, the 2010 USA Softball College Player of the Year started off her career at Mizzou by being named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2008 after batting .402 including 57 stolen bases. In addition, she was also named to the All-Big 12 First Team and received the Adidas Golden Shoe Award Winner presented annually to the nation's top base runner.

The four time All-Big 12 Conference selection is the all-time career leader in batting (.402), at-bats (784), hits (315), runs scored (234) and stolen bases (184) at Mizzou.

Most recently, as a member of the US National Team, she helped lead them to their 6th World Cup title in a 3-0 shutout of Australia in the beginning of July at the World Cup of Softball VII in Oklahoma City, Ok. Taylor led the team with nine hits throughout the tournament, including seven runs and a .500 batting average while going a perfect 6-6 in stolen bases.

Tickets for the Bandits final home series of the 2012 against the Carolina Diamonds, August 15-18, are on sale now. To order tickets, contact the box office at 877-722-6348.
