ROSEMONT - The Chicago Bandits have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with fourth round draft pick Emily Carosone, per general manager Aaron M. Moore.

"We're excited to bring Emily aboard for the rest of the season," Moore said. "She comes from an excellent program at Auburn and we're glad to add a player of her ability."

Carosone, who was selected 22nd overall in this past year's National Pro Fastpitch Draft, became a household name in collegiate softball after smacking a walk-off grand slam in game two of the championship in the Women's College World Series, keeping Auburn's season temporarily alive. The Tigers would go on to drop game three, but Carosone cemented her name in the record books. Her grand slam was just the second player ever (including NCAA baseball and MLB) to hit a walk-off grand slam in the postseason.

However, Carosone's success at the collegiate level was not limited to postseason heroics. She capped off a storied career at Auburn, being named to multiple All-America teams. She is just the second player in program history to accomplish that feat.

"Playing professionally has been a dream of mine, and so many other girls for such a long time," said Carosone. "And I am so blessed that I have the opportunity to play for the Bandits. I look forward to my time in Chicago and cannot wait to see what the future holds.

"I've heard amazing things about the Bandits and their organization and am proud to now call myself a Bandit.

Additionally, Carosone held a career batting average of .406, which included a career-high mark of .438 in 2015. In her breakout junior season, Carosone drove in 80 runs, breaking the single-season school record, and for her efforts she earned a spot as a finalist for the 2015 USA Softball Player of the Year.

The Orlando, Fla. ended her Tiger career as the school's all-time leader in hits, originally held by former New England Riptide outfielder Ashley Moore, as well as hit by pitch. She ended her career with 285 hits, 85 hit by pitches, 44 home runs and 218 RBI.

"Carosone's consistent success in the SEC was very attractive to us," Moore said. "She proved she can play at a high-level and against difficult competition in the SEC.

Emily is going to get her chances to contribute to the lineup right away and we're looking forward to seeing how the season plays out."

Carosone, who will wear No. 15, is expected to join the team ahead of the Bandits upcoming three-game home series against the Akron Racers, beginning Friday.
