Nashville, TN - The National Pro Fastpitch League (NPF) announced the top players for week two of the NPF season on Monday.

The Akron Racers soared to a 5-1 start to the 2016 season with the help of three of the top players in the young campaign. Those players earned Akron a sweep of the weekly player awards in week two.

Kelley Montalvo was named Offensive Player of the Week after hitting for a .625 AVG in week two. Montalvo reached base at least two times in all four games for Akron this week including a game where she did not record an at bat due to three free passes at the plate. Montalvo finished the week with a .625 AVG going 5-8 at the plate with one home run, five RBI, four runs scored and five walks.

Montalvo shares the league lead in AVG with her teammate and rookie of the week Sami Fagan. The first year player out of the University of Missouri hit for a .500 AVG this week including one home run, 4 runs scored and three walks. Fagan was selected fourth overall by the Racers in this year's NPF draft.

The pitcher of the week went to the Racers third overall selection in the 2016 NPF draft, Jailyn Ford. Ford, from James Madison, burst onto the pro level throwing 13 innings of one run ball in week two of the season. Ford struck out 11 batters on her way to a 2-0 start while picking up the first save of her career just a day after her first career win.

The National Pro Fastpitch League releases player, pitcher, and rookie of the week awards every Monday throughout the season.
