BUFFALO, NY (July 27, 2011) - Buffalo Bandits Director of Lacrosse Operations Scott Loffler today announced that the team has signed defenseman Scott Self to a three-year contract, pending league approval.
The Peterborough, Ont. native said he is looking forward to continuing his career in Buffalo.
"I wanted to get a deal done," Self said. "I'm glad to be back in a Bandits uniform this year."
Self (8/4/1979, 6'1", 200 lbs.) appeared in 15 games for the Bandits last season, compiling 10 points (2+8), 77 loose balls and a career-high 36 penalty minutes. Self scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Bandits to a 15-14 win vs. Toronto in Week 3 of the 2011 NLL season.
Self began his NLL career in Buffalo and was re-acquired by the Bandits prior to the 2011 season in a trade with the Minnesota Swarm.
"I really enjoyed my first year back in Buffalo," Self said. "I was disappointed that we didn't win the Championship, but I'm excited for our chances this season."
Originally drafted by Buffalo in the fourth round of the 1999 Entry Draft, Self has also played in New York, Ottawa, Arizona, Chicago, Edmonton and Minnesota. In his 11-year career, Self has amassed 143 points (33+110) and 808 loose balls in 156 games.
