Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Davenport, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits were held to a single run on Friday night, losing to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4-1 at Modern Woodmen Park.
Starters William Fleming and Carlos Rodriguez combined to leave seven runners in scoring position during the scoreless first three innings of the game, including in the bottom of the first, when Quad Cities left them loaded with one out.
In the fourth, it was Fleming who blinked first, as Alex Hall and Arbert Cipion each drove in a run with RBI singles, before the T-Rats took a 4-0 lead in the fifth against Anthony Simonelli, who gave up a two-run home run to Darrien Miller.
After Rodriguez finished his Midwest League debut with 4.0 shutout innings and seven strikeouts, Quad Cities' got its lone run off of Ryan Middendorf: a solo shot by Parker Bates for his seventh of the season.
From the sixth inning on, neither offense brought more than four men to the plate in any inning, including a combined three scoreless innings from Parker Harm and Charlie Neuweiler out of the Bandits' bullpen.
James Meeker picked up his eighth save of the season, closing out the Bandits in the bottom of the ninth.
With 4.0 innings of one-run relief and six strikeouts, Middendorf (1-0) got the win for Wisconsin, while Fleming (0-3) took the loss allowing a pair of runs in 3.2 innings.
Quad Cities will look to hold off a series loss on Saturday with Rylan Kaufman (1-5, 6.16) getting the start against Wisconsin's Zach Mort (4-3, 4.53). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm at Modern Woodmen Park.
