Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) host the Peoria Chiefs (affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. This is the fourth game of a six-game series. Season Series: Dayton 2, Peoria 1.

Last Game: Thursday: Dayton 7, Peoria 3. Jose Torres hit a grand slam home run as part of a seven-run third inning for the Dragons. The first seven batters of the inning all reached and scored before the first out was recorded as the Dragons matched a season-high for most runs in an inning. Starting pitcher Thomas Farr earned his first win of the season, working six innings and allowing three runs (one earned).

Streaks: The Dragons have gone 5-2 over their last seven games.

Top Prospects Join Dragons: In recent days, the Dragons have had several roster additions. Blue-chip prospect Noelvi Marte, who was acquired from the Mariners in the trade involving MLB all-star Luis Castillo, headlines the list. MLB.com has slotted Marte as the Reds #1 prospect, while Baseball America has him ranked #2, behind Elly De La Cruz. Left-handed starting pitcher Steven Hajjar, who was acquired from the Twins in the trade involving major league pitcher Tyler Mahle, has been added. Hajjar was the Twins second round draft pick in 2021 out of the University of Michigan. The Dragons received starting pitcher Chase Petty from Single-A Daytona. Petty was acquired in spring training from the Twins for MLB all-star Sonny Gray. Petty was the Twins first round draft pick in 2021. On Thursday, the Dragons added relief pitchers Dennis Boatman, Frainger Aranguren, and Jean Correa.

The Dragons have scored 49 runs over their last seven games (7.0 runs per game). They averaged 3.2 runs per game in July. Their team batting average of .199 in July was the second lowest in the minors.

The Dragons are batting .444 (12 for 27) with runners in scoring position in the series with Peoria. They hit .167 with runners in scoring position for the month of July.

The Dayton bullpen has allowed only two runs over the last five games covering 26.2 innings (0.68 ERA).
