Potomac Nationals News Release
Woodbridge, VA- The Potomac Nationals are excited to announce that former Baltimore Orioles great, Scott McGregor will be on hand at Pfitzner Stadium tomorrow, Saturday, May 10th to meet P-Nats fans and sign autographs from 5:00pm to 6:00pm as the Nationals host the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Texas Rangers) for a 6:35pm standoff.
Autographs from Scott McGregor are free with the purchase of a Potomac Nationals ticket for tomorrow's night's game.
The event is sponsored by the Fairfax 2015 World Police & Fire Games. Scott McGregor's appearance coincides with a Potomac Nationals co-branded logo baseball giveaway to the first 1,000 fans through the gates at Pfitzner Stadium tomorrow.
McGregor, a left-handed starting pitcher who was an anchor on the Baltimore Orioles' 1983 World Series Champion team, visits The Pfitz for the first time ever.
In the deciding Game Five of the '83 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, the lefty hurled a complete game shutout to clinch the title for the Orioles.
McGregor of Inglewood, CA owned a lifetime Major League Baseball win/loss record of (138-108) and maintained a 3.99 earned run average over the course of his 13-year Big League career which was entirely spent with the O's.
The 6'1", 190 pound southpaw, originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 1st round (14th overall pick) of the 1972 MLB Amateur Draft out of Loyola Marymount University (CA), won 20 games in 1980. A season later he was named to the American League All-Star team amidst a campaign that yielded a (13-5) record to complement a stellar 3.26 ERA.
Two times during his tenure in "The Show," McGregor was the sixth-highest vote recipient for the American League Cy Young Award.
McGregor has previously served as the Pitching Coach for the Short-Season A Aberdeen IronBirds (Baltimore) of Minor League Baseball's New York Penn League in addition to holding tenure as the interim Bullpen Coach in late 2013 for the Baltimore Orioles.
