Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs wrapped up their 2004-05 season series with the Kansas City Outlaws with a 5-2 victory at the Rockford MetroCentre on Monday night. Inspired by a balanced offensive attack and Seamus Kotyk between the pipes, Rockford closed the gap on the first place Fort Wayne Komets to just three points.
The Outlaws notched a 1-0 lead in the first frame however, when winger Mike Murray shot one over the shoulder of Kotyk at 2:18 on the power play. The Hogs would tie the score late in the period when Jason Ralph slipped a marker under Outlaws goalie Maxime Gingras at 18:24.
In the second period winger Terry Harrison put Rockford in the lead at 5:59 set up by Olivier Proulx. Alex Kim later made the score 3-1 at 7:26, capitalizing off of a Kansas City turnover.
Kansas City cut the lead to 3-2 in the third period when leading scorer Joe Seroski beat Kotyk at 12:18. But Rockford responded at 13:36 when center J.C. Ruid scored his 35 goal of the season giving the Hogs their two-goal cushion back. Winger Eric Labelle finished off Kansas City at 17:20 with his 10 goal of the year.
The Hogs out-shot the Outlaws 40-19 in the contest and finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play.
Next Home Game: Friday, March 18 vs. Richmond RiverDogs. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Dogs for the first time ever when they match-up in Rockford. It's airplane toss night and fans will have a chance to win a Corvette or a trip for two to Las Vegas from Wheels By RT, 23WIFR and Y-95FM.
