BAKERSFIELD, December 4, 2011 - The Bakersfield Jam lost to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers by a score of 118-95 tonight. The Jam (3-1) drop their first game of the season and the Vipers (4-1) win their first road game of the year.

The first period of the game was a close battle as the lead changed 4 times and the teams were tied twice as the Vipers took a 28-26 lead over the Jam at the end of the quarter. Rio Grande Valley got hot in the second, shooting 55.0% on the quarter, while Bakersfield went cold, only hitting 16.7% of their shots to bring the halftime score to 58-44 in favor of the Vipers. The third quarter continued to go RGV's way as they extended their lead to as many as 30 points and entered the final period being up 85-66. The Jam made a push to start the final period with Adrian Thomas hitting 4 of his 7 three pointers on the night in that quarter and trimmed the Vipers lead to only 10 points at the 7:34 mark but it wasn't enough to make the come back.
