Bakersfield Jam News Release
BAKERSFIELD, CALIF., December 16, 2014 - The Bakersfield Jam (8-5) defeated the Idaho Stampede (3-8) Tuesday night at the Dignity Health Event Center by a final score of 114-107. Jamil Wilson led the way for Bakersfield with 32 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.
The Jam stormed out of the gates taking a commanding 36-12 lead after one quarter of play. In that first quarter, Bakersfield shot 58.3 percent from the field and outscored Idaho in the paint 20-4. Unable to maintain their high level of play on both ends of the floor, the second quarter was a complete turnaround for the Jam as they got cold from the field (5/16 FGs) and got outscored 32-16. A 26-point Jam lead at one point got trimmed down to just eight at the half (52-44).
In the second half, both teams went back-and-forth trading buckets and kept the game close for the most part. Idaho tied the game at the 8:47 mark of the third quarter (56-56), but Bakersfield answered back with a 13-4 run and kept their lead the rest of the game.
Elijah Millsap scored 26 points and dished out five assists, while Earl Barron recorded a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Xavier Munford chipped in 10 points and Chris Wright finished with a team-high 10 assists.
The Stampede were paced by Kevin Murphy (32 points, 5 assists) and Jerrelle Benimon (21 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists). Shane Gibson tallied 18 points.
Bakersfield's next game is on Thursday, December 18 when they host the Reno Bighorns at 7:00 p.m. PT.
