December 17, 2014 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS, December 17, 2014 - The Westchester Knicks (5-7) fell 82-75 to the Canton Charge (8-5), the NBA D-League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The first twelve minutes of play were rough for the Knicks as they only managed to score 14 points, eight of which came from guard Langston Galloway. But Westchester found their groove in the second quarter with a big assist from Westchester's newest player, Markeith Cummings, who acquired 13 points in just 12 minutes.
The Knicks overcame a 15 point deficit to tie it up 50-50 with just over five minutes to play in the third quarter. They would take the lead shortly thereafter and head into the final quarter leading Canton 58-56.
With both teams determined to get the win, the score stayed close for the majority of the last quarter; Canton answering to every Westchester lead. A putback dunk from Charge guard Antoine Onuaku with 2:37 on the clock led the rally for Canton, who would ultimately win the game 82-75.
Markeith Cummings led the Knicks with 21 points off the bench, also adding five rebounds. Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Darnell Jackson, and Langston Galloway all added 12 points, with Andre Barrett adding 11. Jackson secured a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Orlando Sanchez each had two blocks on the night.
Five Charge players found double digits led by Antoine Onuaku with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Alex Kirk ended the night with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Westchester travels to Fort Wayne on Friday, Dec. 19 to take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on MSG Network.
