St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN - It was 10-years ago that the St. Paul Saints took their show on the road for a very unique exhibition game. In 2008 the Saints barnstormed against a local townball team in Miesville. In honor of the 10-year anniversary the Saints, in conjunction with Killebrew Root Beer, are headed back to where it all started as they will play an exhibition game against the Miesville Mudhens, featuring the South Metro All-Stars, at Jack Ruhr Field.

For the 11th consecutive season the Saints will play an exhibition game in a neighboring Minnesota city on a field known for its place in townball history. On Saturday, May 12 at 7:00 p.m. the Saints will take on the Miesville Mudhens/South Metro All-Stars at Jack Ruhr Field in Miesville, presented by Killebrew Root Beer. The field is located at 14221 240th St E in Hastings. The All-Star team will consist of the best players in the league from nine different teams (Burnsville, Cannon Falls, Dundas, Hastings, Lake City, Miesville, Northfield, Randolph, and Red Wing). The Mudhens are the reigning Class B State Champions and have won seven State titles.

"Killebrew Root Beer is very excited to be working with the St. Paul Saints and the Miesville Mudhens for the 2018 Town Ball Barnstorming game," said RJM President of RJM Distributing, Jim Lundeen. "The success of this annual town baseball event continues to grow as we close the first decade of these fundraising games."

Much of Minnesota's baseball history has played out on "townball" fields around the State. Jack Ruhr Field and its home team, the seven-time state champion Miesville Mudhens, represent the role amateur baseball has played in Minnesota. The ballpark is immortalized in three separate pieces by famed sports artist, Terrence Fogarty.

Gates open at 5 p.m., with the Saints taking batting practice at that time, a 6:00 p.m. home run derby and the game beginning at 7:00 p.m. Little League players eight and under can shag balls during the home run derby.

The game against the Miesville Mudhens/South Metro All-Stars will help raise money for their field, concessions and restroom facilities. During the game there will be a raffle, prizes given away, a silent auction and activities for the kids.

Tickets for this special exhibition game are $5 and can be purchased at the gate. Kids five and under are free.
