Back-To-Back Northern League Champs Move to New Circuit

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have been approved as a member of the American Assocation of Independent Professional Baseball Clubs, effective immediately. The RedHawks will play in the American Association beginning with the 2011 season.

In addition to the RedHawks, the Gary SouthShore RailCats, Kansas City T-Bones and Winnipeg Goldeyes have also been approved for membership in the American Assocation for 2011 and will be moving from the Northern League.

"We are looking forward to our new venture in the American Association and continuing our tradition of championship baseball for the fans of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks," said RedHawks Owner and President Bruce Thom. "We are excited to renew our rivalries with Lincoln, St. Paul, Sioux Falls and Sioux City and competing with the other teams in the American Association."

The 14-team American Association will be divided into three divsions in 2011. Fargo-Moorhead will be part of the North Division with the Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants, St. Paul Saints and Winnipeg. The league will be playing a 100-game schedule in 2011, with a complete schedule announced in the near future.

The RedHawks were members of the Northern League for 15 seasons from 1996-2010, where the team enjoyed success both on and off the field. The club won five league championships, including back-to-back titles in 2009 & 2010. The RedHawks posted a 849-515 record in the Northern League and reached the 60-win plateau six times. Off the field, the RedHawks have drawn nearly 2.7 million regular season fans through the gates of Newman Outdoor Field.
