Tuesday, Oct. 21: Binghamton 5, St. John's 6

Despite battling back with two third period goals, the B-Sens fell in St. John's in its first matchup against the IceCaps this season.

St. John's carried a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play courtesy of goals from Carl Klingberg and Patrice Cormier.

Chris Wideman, Derek Grant and Garrett Thompson notched second period tallies for the B-Sens but were answered by three St. John's goals as well, sending Binghamton into the third period trailing 5-3.

An early third period goal from Brendan Kichton moved the hosts lead to 6-3. Buddy Robinson and Cole Schneider recorded Binghamton's late third period markers.

Andrew Hammond played just over 43 minutes in goal for Binghamton, allowing all six goals before being replaced by Scott Greenham following Kichton's third period score. St. John's Connor Hellebuyck stopped 29 of 34 shots faced for the victory.

Wednesday, Oct. 22: Binghamton 3, St. John's 2 (OT)

PP: Binghamton 0 for 5, St. John's 0 for 2

Binghamton ended a 10-plus year drought in St. John's Wednesday with a 3-2 overtime win against the IceCaps. Chris Wideman scored the game winner with just over 20 seconds remaining in sudden death to give Binghamton its first road win of the season.

Following a scoreless opening 40 minutes of play, each team scored twice in the third period to force overtime. Wideman scored his second goal in as many games with the teams skating 3-on-3.

Hammond started his fifth straight game in net stopping 41 of 43 shots for the win.

-more- Saturday, Oct. 25: Lehigh Valley 5, Binghamton 4 (OT)

PP: Lehigh Valley 2 for 4, Binghamton 0 for 3

Binghamton welcomed new division foe the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to the Floyd L. Maines for the first of 10 total meetings between the teams this season. Despite a stunning two-goal rally in the final 15 seconds of regulation to force overtime, the B-Sens fell 5-4 to the Phantoms.

Shane Prince notched his second goal of the season 8:28 into the first to give the B-Sens the 1-0 lead. Lehigh Valley answered with less than two minutes to play in the period when Nick Cousins beat Hammond on the power play with a shot between the circles. Jean-Gabriel Pageau gave Binghamton a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission with an even-strength goal with 35 seconds remaining in the first.

Lehigh Valley controlled the puck the majority of the second period, registering three goals to head into the final period of regulation leading 4-2.

Binghamton was held scoreless the entire third until Derek Grant scored at 19:45 and then just nine seconds later at 19:54 to force overtime.

Scott Laughton notched his fifth goal of the year 5:40 into the overtime period to give the Phantoms the victory.

Hammond finished with 36 saves in net while Phantoms' goaltender Rob Zepp stopped 36 of 40 shots for the victory.

Sunday, Oct. 26: Binghamton 2, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 3

Shots: Binghamton 23, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 40

PP: Binghamton 1 for 6, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 1 for 9

Binghamton finished its busy week on the road in Wilkes-Barre falling 3-2 to division rival the Penguins. Former B-Sen Andrew Ebbett scored the game-winning goal early in the third, breaking a 2-2 tie and giving the Penguins the first victory in the eight-game season series between the teams.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton scored twice in the opening eight minutes of play to give the hosts a 2-0 lead. Wideman scored his third goal in four games with less than five minutes remaining in the first to cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into the second period.

Cole Schneider scored the lone goal of the second period at 13:46 of the frame to send the teams to the third deadlocked 2-2.

-more- The Penguins, who outshot the B-Sens 16-5 during the final 20 minutes of play, got its game-winning tally from Ebbett at 3:50 of the third.

Hammond made his seventh straight start in goal for Binghamton stopping 37 of 40 shots faced while Eric Hartzell made his 2014-15 regular season debut stopping 21 Binghamton shots for the victory.

Record: 2-3-2-0 (6 points)

Standings: After playing four games in six nights last week, the B-Sens are currently in 4th place in the East Division. Hershey holds the top spot with a 5-2-0-0 record (10 points) through seven games while Lehigh Valley (4-2-0-0) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (4-4-0-0) share second place with eight points each. Norfolk rounds out the East with a 2-5-0-0 record (four points) through its first seven games.

THIS WEEK...

Wednesday, Oct. 29 vs. Utica Comets (Vancouver) - 7:05p.m.

Friday, Oct. 31 @ Utica Comets (Vancouver) - 7:00p.m.

The B-Sens host the Comets Wednesday at 7:05p.m. before traveling to Utica Friday. Utica is currently 5-1-1-0 through its first seven games of the season, holding the top spot in the Western Conference's North Division.

Offensively the Comets are led by centers Cal O'Reilly (one goal + seven assists 8 points) and Dustin Jeffrey (4+37).

Goaltender Jacob Markstrom, the reigning CCM/AHL Player of the Week, has allowed just one goal over four appearances in net for the Comets this season. His 0.25 goals-against average and 0.991 save percentage top all AHL goaltenders who have played a minimum of four games this year.

Saturday, Nov. 1 vs. Syracuse Crunch (Tampa Bay Lightning) - 7:05p.m.

Binghamton hosts Syracuse Saturday for the second of the team's eight-game season series. The Crunch beat the B-Sens October 18, 4-2 in regulation in Syracuse.

Jonathan Marchessault leads all Syracuse skaters with seven points (2+5) over six games played.

Goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis has appeared in four games this season, going 2-2-0 with a 2.70 goals-against average and a 0.912 save percentage.

PROMOTIONS...

Wednesday night the B-Sens will be celebrating Halloween with trick-or-treating on the concourse. Stop by the Ticket Information table on the front concourse to guess the weight of our giant pumpkin for a chance to win four tickets to any regular season game this season.

Wednesday will also be Alzheimer's Awareness Night presented by The Alzheimer's Association of Central New York. Fans can purchase discount tickets for $15 with $2 going back to the organization.

Saturday night will be Foster Parent Awareness Night with a special B-Sens Team Poster Giveaway presented by the Northeast Parent Child Society. Fans are invited to stay postgame for an on-ice autograph session with the entire Binghamton Senators team.

SENS SNIPPETS...

Defenseman Chris Wideman, who has a six-game point streak, is tied for third in the AHL and first among blue liners with eight points (three goals, five assists) through the first seven games of the season.

Goaltender Andrew Hammond tops all AHL goaltenders in games played, minutes played and saves having started all seven of Binghamton's games this season.

On October 25, Derek Grant scored twice in the final 15 seconds of regulation to force overtime against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The goals came just nine seconds apart, which ties a B-Sens franchise record.

Forward Brad Mills was suspended by the AHL for 20 games after violating the terms of the Performance Enhancing Substances Program. Mills, who has already served four games of the suspension, is eligible to return December 12, versus Lehigh Valley.
