The B-Sens welcomed defending Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears to Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena Saturday. Andrew Giroux and Kyle Wilson each registered two goals for Hershey.
Record: 2-1-0-0
Standings: The B-Sens are currently tied with Albany for second in the East (4 points).
THIS WEEK...
Monday, Oct. 12 @ Bridgeport Sound Tigers (New York Islanders)
The B-Sens travel to Bridgeport, CT for a 1 p.m. contest with the Sound Tigers. Former B-Sen Greg Mauldin is expected to be in the line-up for Bridgeport. The B-Sens have a 10-13-1-1-1 record overall in games played in Bridgeport.
Friday, Oct. 16 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins)
After sweeping the Baby Pens 2-0 in the pre-season, the B-Sens welcome Wilkes-Barre to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena for the first time in the 2009-10 regular season. The B-Sens are nearly even on home ice versus Wilkes-Barre, holding a record of 13-12-2-0-1 versus the Penguins.
Promotions: Friday is Faith & Family night with the Binghamton Senators. The first 1,000 fans through the door will receive water bottles courtesy of Davis College.
Saturday, Oct. 17 vs. Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals)
Saturday, the Hershey Bears return to Binghamton, where the B-Sens will look to redeem themselves following the lopsided 8-1 loss to the Bears suffered Oct. 10. Former Binghamton players Alexandre Giroux and Greg Amadio combined for three points against their former team last week (2+1 3).
Promotions: The B-Sens are hosting a pre-game pro jersey swap in the Arena Club. Fans are encouraged to bring their unwanted, game-worn jerseys to trade with other collectors. They can also turn in their old game worn jerseys for credit towards a new, game-worn B-Sens jersey.
SENS SNIPPETS...
Jeremy Yablonski's 26 penalty minutes in the Oct. 9 game versus the Syracuse Crunch propelled him past Denis Bonvie on the B-Sens all-time leaders in penalty minutes. "Yabo" is now ranked fourth with 469 penalty minutes.
Denis Hamel and Martin St. Pierre are the only B-Sens to have registered at least a point in every game played so far in the 2009-10 season. Denis Hamel recorded a goal in each of last week's games (2+0 2), while Martin St. Pierre recorded an assist in each game (0+2 2).
In Friday's 6-2 victory over the Crunch, defenseman Craig Schira and right wing Keegan Dansereau each recorded their first professional goal.
Tim Spencer's goal in Friday's victory over the Crunch was his first American Hockey League goal. Spencer spent the majority of the 2008-09 season with Las Vegas of the ECHL. In 51 games with the Wranglers Spencer registered four goals and four assists for a total of eight points. Spencer saw action in four games with the Manitoba Moose, but did not record any points.
