March 19, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Corey Locke potted two goals and Barry Brust made 25 saves to help the B-Sens to a 2-0 victory over the Atlantic Division's Springfield Falcons Saturday night.
With the win, Brust improved to 26-17-1 on the season and is now tied with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Brad Thiessen to the league lead in shutouts with seven.
The teams left the ice following the first 20 minutes of play scoreless, despite a 10 to 5 shots advantage for Binghamton.
Locke opened the scoring with just 1:22 left on the clock in the second period of play as he bounced a puck up over Falcons' net minder David LeNeveu to finally put the B-Sens on the board. Derek Smith and Andre Benoit each received credit for the assists on the goal.
Locke's 20th of the season came at 12:19 of the third courtesy of Jim O'Brien and Derek Grant. Locke now has a league leading 80 points (20 goals, 60 assists), just five points shy of his career high 85 points (31 goals, 54 assists) which he net in 76 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack last season.
The B-Sens are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Bridgeport to take on the Sound Tigers at 6 p.m. Fans can listen live on 680 WINR-AM or 1430 WENE-AM beginning 30 minutes before game time for Countdown to Faceoff with Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens.
