JUPITER, FL - New York Mets farmhand Richard Lucas drove in two runs and finished a triple shy of the cycle in leading the Binghamton Mets past the Springfield Cardinals, 6-3, today at the St. Louis Cardinals' Spring Training facility.
Lucas, a fourth-round draft pick out of Wolfson HS (FL) in 2007, spent all of last season with the St. Lucie Mets (High-A). He hit .251 and racked up a team-best 26 doubles over 124 games.
On the mound, Domingo Tapia and Luis Mateo combined for four innings of shutout relief.
The B-Mets are back in action tomorrow at home when they host the Jacksonville Suns at 1:00 PM.
