Walla Walla, WASH - The Walla Walla Sweets (8-8) put together a pitching clinic in their 1-0, 10 inning win over the Kitsap BlueJackets (6-10). The win gives the Sweets a game one victory for just the third time this season.
The Sweets struggled on the offensive side all night. They had 10 total hits, but stranded 10 and were 0-12 on the night with runners in scoring position. The first run of the game was scored in the 10th inning on an RBI sac fly by Nick Nyquist (Gonzaga) that scored Alex Muzzi (Long Beach State).
Bobby Ay (Cal Poly) got the start for the Sweets and dominated in seven innings. He struck out 10 and walked only three while giving up just one hit. AJ Carkner (Pikeville) followed with two innings, only giving up one hit and Kyle Narahara (Cal State Monterey Bay) picked up his fifth save on the season in the 10th.
The Sweets take on the BlueJackets tomorrow at 6:35 in game two and they send Easton Lucas (Pepperdine) to the hill.
