The Elizabethton River Riders defeated the Kingsport Axmen by a final score of 12-6.

Elizabethton finished with 12 hits, including two home runs, while Kingsport only had four hits.

The Axmen were off to a hot start after a solid first inning. The Axmen took a 2-0 lead on a Jake Perry RBI sacrifice fly and Nate Anderson scored on a stolen base and fielding error.

Elizabethton (14-15) responded with three runs in the second inning, including a Peyton Basler two-run homer.

Down 3-2 in the bottom of the third, the Axmen (20-9) answered with a three-run inning of their own. Corbin Shaw hit a two-RBI single and Kyle Booker scored Shaw on a groundout.

In the top of the fourth, The River Riders retaliated with yet another three-run inning to regain the lead at 6-5.

No runs were scored in the fifth inning.

Elizabethton took a commanding 11-5 lead after scoring five runs in the top of the sixth and the River Riders never surrendered that lead. The River Riders and Axmen scored one more run in the eighth and ninth respectively, making it a 12-6 final.

Ian Riley is now on a 20-game on-base streak, but the Axmen have dropped four of their last five games.

The Axmen look to snap the two-game skid with a win over the River Riders in Elizabethton on Monday night.
