Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Batavia, NY - Different day, same old story. Another game against division rival Auburn led to another loss for the Muckdogs on Monday night as they fell by a score of 6-2. The loss dropped the Muckdogs season record against Auburn to 2-10.
Despite three hits from left fielder Jack Headley, the Muckdogs would only manage 3 more total on the night and could only plate 2 runs. The 'Dogs never led, but did keep the game close until the 9th.
Down 3-1 in the 8th, Headley singled home Javon Moran to cut the lead to one. Unfortunately, the Muckdogs would never really have a chance in the 9th, as Auburn scored 3 times in their half of the 9th to put the game away.
The three runs came against Nelson Echarry, who made a less than spectacular debut with the Muckdogs, pitching 2 innings and allowing 3 hits, 4 walks and 3 runs. Echarry became the 19th Muckdogs pitcher this season when he entered the game.
Starter Darin Naatjes (1-3) suffered the loss. Reliever Caleb McConnell had a stellar outing, tossing 4 shutout innings.
The three game series finishes up in Auburn tonight with a 7:05 PM start. The game can be heard live on 89.1 the Point.
