Attack Neutral Site Game Raises over $14,000

Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack are proud to announce that their neutral site pre-season game held in Hanover in September raised $14,250 dollars that will be split between the Hanover Barons and the Saugeen Valley Minor Hockey.

The Attack took to the ice at the P & H Centre on Wednesday, September 20, in what would be an 8-4 loss to the visiting Barrie Colts. While on the ice, the game may not have gone the way the home side would have liked, off the ice it was a roaring success. The teams played in front of a sell out crowd of 1,100, that were entertained from start to finish. The event featured traditional fundraising activities including silent auction, 50-50 draw, puck toss and a fan zone.

The organizing committee including representatives from the Hanover Barons, Saugeen Valley Minor Hockey and the Town of Hanover worked extremely hard and received amazing support from local corporate partners including Trusscore, Hanover Home Hardware, KnK Lawncare, Germania Mutual Insurance, Johnson Woodworking, JT Excavating, Giant Tiger (Hanover), Wilson Solutions, Paradigm Home Construction Cuneo Interiors and Matches Eatery & Public House.

"It is amazing to be able to make an announcement of this kind" said Attack Manager, Marketing & Communications, Greg Hoddinott. "Our organization is grounded in the communities that support us and it is humbling to be able to help raise these kinds of funds for the hockey community in Hanover and area."

"A game like this is not possible without the hard work of the volunteers. On behalf of the Attack organization, I would like to thank all the game night volunteers and especially thank our committee Craig Corriveau, Jeremy White, Mike Fisher, Mike Meyers, Lorrie Pegelo, Laura Christen and Tom Karl."

With the success of this event, the Attack will look to make a neutral site pre-season game a mainstay in their schedule for years to come. The team will be in touch with municipalities that applied for this year early in the new year to see if they are still interested and make a decision on the 2024 host early in the spring at the latest.
