Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that for the second consecutive year, they will be hosting the Bluewater Athletic Association Male and Female High School Hockey Championships at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. This big event is slated for Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010 with the Girls game beginning at 1:30pm and the Boys game beginning at 3:00pm.
This year's Girls final will pit the West Hill Secondary School Raiders against the Kincardine District Secondary School Lady Knights for the second straight year. Last year the Lady Knights defeated the West Hill Raiders to win the Bluewater Athletic Association Girls Hockey Championship for the 4th time in 6 years. Owen Sound's West Hill Raiders defeated Sacred Heart 2-1 in overtime to claim their birth in the finals while KDSS handled John Diefenbaker 4-1 to advance to Tuesday's Final.
The Boys final will see the Kincardine District Secondary School Knights take on the Sacred Heart Crusaders at the Bayshore at 3:00pm.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for people to take an afternoon and see the great talent that our local High School's have to offer." Stated Brent Fisher, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the Owen Sound Attack. "Just last year Ripley native Garrett Meurs was on the ice playing for a B.A.A. Championship and now he is playing for the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. Why not have the best High School hockey players play in the best facility in our area in their biggest game of the season?"
The action gets underway at the Bayshore at 1:30pm with the Girls Final and continues when the Boys square off at 3:00pm.
