Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Attack are starting off bright and early this week with an 11am start in Erie on Wednesday and a rematch Thursday night before a return home to face the Rangers on Saturday.
This past weekend saw the Attack pull even in points with the Storm after taking both games of their home and home series Friday and Saturday. Friday's game saw them pull out 2 goals in the final 2 minutes to emerge victorious 2-1 over the Storm, followed by a narrow 4-3 victory at home. The bears couldn't keep the momentum rolling against London however as they fell 8-3 at home on Sunday.
The Attack are yet to face Erie this year with 4 games split between the Harry Lumley Bayshore and Erie Insurance Arena remaining on the schedule. The Otters started the season slow and have been stuck near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, but have recovered recently with a 6-3-1 record in their last 10 games. Owen Sound comes in with an almost identical 6-4-0 record in their last 10.
Recently acquired Attacker and noted player of the week for Owen Sound, Nick Porco will look to continue his strong two-way play across the border. Porco has provided the Attack with 13 points in 14 games since joining the club from Barrie, including a pair of shorthanded goals against Guelph and London over the weekend.
On Erie's side the Otters will be relying on offence from their backend with their hottest hand being defender Christian Kyrou. Kyrou is a 2022 NHL draft eligible prospect with the 3rd most points on the Otters this season including 7 points during his current 6 game point streak.
After the two-game set against Erie, the bears will be facing Kitchener for the 6th time Saturday, leading the season series 3 games to 2. In their last meeting on February 1st the Rangers squeaked out a 3-2 win on home ice. Mike Petizian had 2 points including a goal and an assist on the game winner, while Marcus Vandenburg had 11 saves on 12 shots after coming in to relieve his fellow netminder midway through the game.
The Rangers sit 7 points back of the Attack in the Midwest Division standings heading into action Wednesday. The Attack can potentially move into 2nd place in the division if they take advantage of points from their lower seeded opponents.
With limited attendance for home games, fans can catch all the Attack action, home and away on OHL Live, or listen live on 560 CFOS Bears Radio. Saturday's match is available on Rogers TV and a maximum of 500 fans will be able to attend. Season Ticket members can inquire about claiming select tickets for the remaining games with 500 spectator limits by calling or visiting the MacVicar and McComb Sutton Realty Box Office.
The weekend preview is presented by Joe Tomatoes located in the Galaxy Plaza on the Sunset Strip.
