OTTAWA, ON - Atlético Ottawa is excited to announce the signing of 23-year-old forward Rubén del Campo on a free transfer until the end of the 2024 Canadian Premier League season. This exciting addition to the team brings a wealth of talent and experience despite his younger age as well as potential to our squad.
Having emerged from Atlético de Madrid's renowned youth academy, Rubén del Campo has honed his skills under the guidance of our own Head Coach Carlos González. Their previous collaboration provides a strong foundation for Rubén's integration into the team, and we are eager to witness their successful reunion on the field.
"Ruben Del Campo it's a great addition to our team," said Carlos González, Head Coach, Atlético Ottawa, "He is a striker that complements well with what we already have in the attack, adding variety to our options with an ability to complement our style. With his high number of touches inside the box, good reading of spaces and explosive power he will give our squad with more offensive tools."
Rubén del Campo most recently played in the Spanish third division, representing San Fernando CD, scoring four goals and providing two assists in the first 11 games of the season. Known for his speed, relentless determination, and clinical finishing, Rubén is a left-footed attacker who brings a dynamic edge and variety to our offensive line.

This opportunity presents a significant milestone in my journey, allowing me to grow personally and professionally," said Del Campo. "Reuniting with Carlos Gonzalez as my coach fills me with fond memories of my time at the academy. Under his guidance, I gained invaluable lessons and developed so much as a player. Getting the chance to work under him again allows me to further nurture my potential and elevate my game to new heights."
While he has already represented Switzerland U20s, Rubén holds dual nationality and has the opportunity to represent Spain as well. His professional career has taken him to various leagues, including Portugal's top division with FC Famalicão and Spain's second division with UD Melilla, where he netted an impressive 10 goals in 22 starts.
