ORLANDO, Fla. - The Atlanta Vibe are returning home to Georgia with a league-leading 2-0 record, defeating the Orlando Valkyries in their season opener on Friday evening.

Another five-set nail-biter, the match went back-and-forth for five tight sets. Vibe middle blocker Karis Watson emerged as the visiting team's first defensive threat, stopping four balls at the net and slowing the Valkyries' hard-hitting offensive line throughout the match. Watson finished the match hitting at a .368 clip, collecting a team-high-tying 10 kills all in the first four sets.

Coming in as the starting setter beginning in the third set, Marlie Monserez racked up 19 assists, just one behind Tori Stringer's 20, helping to keep the offense moving through the final three sets.

Outside hitter Leah Edmond and opposite Yossiana Pressley shared the offensive wins with Watson, also tallying 10 kills apiece.

The Vibe wrap up their first road trip with a 2-0 record after defeating the Omaha Supernovas in the historic first match of the Pro Volleyball Federation on Wednesday (Jan. 24). Atlanta will host the San Diego Mojo on Thursday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Gas South Arena for their first ever home opener.
