Atlanta United FC News Release
ATLANTA - Atlanta United announced today it has re-signed goalkeeper Quentin Westberg to a one-year contract for the 2024 MLS season.
"Quentin is an experienced goalkeeper and we are pleased to re-sign him for the 2024 season," Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said. "He is a good role model for our club, and with his experience in MLS and Europe, he will continue to add competition to our goalkeeping group."
Westberg signed with Atlanta prior to the 2023 season and made six MLS starts, registering one clean sheet against Colorado on May 17. The goalkeeper made the move to MLS ahead of the 2019 regular season when he signed with Toronto FC where he immediately established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper and started 28 matches in the regular season. He also made all four starts in the MLS Cup Playoffs as Toronto FC won the Eastern Conference championship before falling to Seattle in MLS Cup. In four seasons with Toronto, Westberg played in 68 matches and recorded 10 clean sheets. His save percentage was 60.7% or higher in each of his four seasons with Toronto.
Westberg began his career with the youth academy at French club ES Troyes AC before making his professional debut on Oct. 21, 2006 as a substitute against Valenciennes. Over four seasons, he made more than 50 appearances for Troyes. In the summer of 2012, Westberg joined Luzenac AP of the Championnat National where he made 71 appearances and recorded 27 clean sheets in league play over two seasons, earning him a move to Ligue 2 side Tours FC. After two seasons with Tours FC, the goalkeeper joined AJ Auxerre and made 22 appearances before moving to Toronto.
