TAMPA, Fla. - Atlanta United 2 battled against Group H leaders Tampa Bay Rowdies but ultimately fell 2-1 at Al Lang Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Phillip Goodrum scored his first professional goal.
Tampa Bay started the match on the front foot and put Atlanta under pressure in the opening minutes. Ben Lundgaard was called into action in the eighth minute when he made a save from Malik Johnson's shot. Four minutes later, Lundgaard denied Sebastian Dalgaard's header. In the 21st minute, Tampa took the lead from Jordan Doherty's long-range shot into the bottom left corner.

Atlanta's attack picked up in the second half. Coleman Gannon had a shot saved in the 63rd minute. Abdoulaye Diop saw a left-footed strike go inches past the post later in the half. In the 70th minute, Lundgaard came up big again when he stopped a penalty kick from the Rowdies' top goal scorer Sebastian Guenzatti.
