TULSA, Okla. - Atlanta United 2 dropped its 2021 season finale 4-0 at FC Tulsa on Wednesday night. ATL UTD 2 concludes the season with an 8-14-10 mark in the USL Championship Central Division.
FC Tulsa came out on the attack from the opening whistle and scored the game's first goal in the 17th minute when Rodrigo da Costa finished a pass from Joaqin Rivas from the center of the box. Tulsa continued to press forward and was rewarded with two more goals in quick succession. Jason Johnson scored in the 21st minute, while Kevin Garcia netted a header off a Rivas corner kick in the 23rd minute to make it 3-0 for the home side.
Despite having the possession edge 60-40, ATL UTD 2 wasn't able to capitalize before halftime. At the break, head coach Jack Collison made three changes and Atlanta's attack began to create some more opportunities. Darwin Matheus had a couple of opportunities in the early minutes of the second half but wasn't able to find the back of the net.
Amadou Macky Diop had another opportunity late on in the 86th minute when a header from close range went over the bar. Tulsa completed the scoring in stoppage time through Lucas Coutinho who finished a counterattack for the final score of 4-0 in favor of FC Tulsa.
