Atlanta United 2 Announces 2022 USL Championship Schedule

ATLANTA - Atlanta United 2 today announced its schedule for the 2022 USL Championship season. The 34-match schedule is an even split of 17 home matches and 17 away matches. ATL UTD 2 will play its 13 Eastern Conference opponents home and away, while the eight remaining matches will come against Western Conference teams.

The 459-game regular season that marks the league's 12th campaign is set to kick off on the weekend of Saturday, March 12 with a 13-game slate that features 26 of the league's 27 teams. The regular season will conclude on the weekend of Oct. 14-16 ahead of the 2022 USL Championship Playoffs. The top seven teams in each conference will qualify for the playoffs.

As previously announced, Atlanta's season opener will be March 12 on the road at Louisville City FC for the second consecutive season. ATL UTD 2 will play its home opener on March 16 against New York Red Bulls II. Atlanta then hosts the Tampa Bay Rowdies and Charleston Battery for the first of two three-game homestands. The final home match of the 2022 regular season is on Sept. 28 against Indy Eleven.

Atlanta was placed in the 14-team Eastern Conference which includes Birmingham Legion, Charleston Battery, Detroit City FC, Hartford Athletic, Indy Eleven, Loudoun United FC, Louisville City FC, Memphis 901 FC, Miami FC, New York Red Bulls II, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, Tampa Bay Rowdies and FC Tulsa.

ATL UTD 2 will close out its regular season with back-to-back road matches against Western Conference opponents at LA Galaxy II (Oct. 8) and at Phoenix Rising FC (Oct. 15). The other Western Conference opponents that Atlanta will face include Orange County SC (May 27; home), Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (June 1; home), Oakland Roots SC (June 25; away), El Paso Locomotive FC (July 2; home), San Antonio FC (July 16; away) and Las Vegas Lights FC (July 30; home)
